There is a useful article on the BBC website
regarding Ken and his work. This is an extract from
the site:
"Ken, a former captain of Lytham Cricket Club, has recently retired from the wallpaper
industry and now spends his time painting in his studio or back garden at home in Lytham St Annes.
A member of Lytham St Annes Art Society for many years Ken has shown his paintings at most
of their exhibitions. He has also exhibited his works at the Grundy Gallery in Blackpool, Lytham Heritage
Centre, the Wenlsey Gallery in Ramsbottom, Kilnhouse Gallery in Thornton-Cleveleys and recently at the
Milnthorpe Art Exhibition.
As a talented schoolboy artist Ken painted murals but it was many years later that he
attended night school classes for oil painting techniques and his enjoyment of painting blossomed. The skills he
gained enabled him to look with greater appreciation at the works of past masters, of particular inspiration are
Velasquez, Rembrandt, Manet, Monet, and Degas.
Working in oils Ken likes depicting a range of subject matters from still life to everyday
life-especially on the Fylde Coast, seeking to capture the beauty of nature and the theatre of any one moment in
time."
